About Me
Hi! I’m Miranda Derossi, experiential designer and multidisciplinary artist. I’m interested in the ways that stories reach us outside of or apart from text– especially those that are immersive, embodied, or interactive. I design experiences supported by a background in fabrication, technical theater, and a dash of physical computing.
I graduate in May 2026 from the New School with an MFA in Contemporary Theater & Performance and a graduate minor in Transmedia & Digital Storytelling, building on dual bachelor’s degrees from Wesleyan University in Theater and Design & Engineering. Throughout my graduate study, I have focused on exploring work that engages people in this participatory way: a live choose-your-own-adventure performance based on Daniel Pearle’s play Freefall, a Holy Grail-esque puzzle quest, and a forest of audience values built in real time, for example. My joint thesis project, co-created with playwright and researcher Sydney Green, is a theatricalized game that centers on themes of queer identity construction and placemaking using escape room-style mechanics. My inspirations range from tabletop roleplaying campaigns to narrative-driven exploration video games to real world interactive events such as the annual MIT Mystery Hunt.
Outside of professional work (though many of these cross over!), you can find me practicing embroidery and micro-crochet, wiring up silly costumes, and playing board games with friends.
